JAMES E BOWEN, SR June 9, 1932 - May 17, 2012 Mr. James E. Bowen, Sr., age 79, of 407 Hartview Circle, Anderson, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at his residence. Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Ernest L. Bowen and the late Maudie Martin Bowen. He was married to Nezzie Chitwood Bowen, his beloved wife of 58 years. For many years Mr. Bowen was employed by Ryobi Manufacturing (formally Singer), retiring in 1994. He was a member of Centerville Church of God, where he served as Sunday School Secretary for over 20 years. He enjoyed his children and grand-children and loved them dearly. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James E. Bowen, Jr. (Jill) of Anderson; 3 daughters, Beth Penland (Troy) of Townville, Wanda Latham (Bruce) of Greenville, and Susan J. Bowen of Anderson; 1 sister, Evelyn Stevens of Easley; 9 grandchildren, Kenneth Burton (Rebecca), Chris Penland, Lisa Penland, Stacy Worley (Kevin), Sarah Penland, Steven Latham, Jeffrey Latham, Rebecca Bowen and Sierra Parks; and 4 great-grandchildren, Katie Burton, Madison, Rusty and Ayden Roberts. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowen was predeceased by brothers, Floyd, Joe and R.M. Bowen, and sisters, Hailey Stumpf, Annie Witcher, and Audrey Nixon. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 21, 2012, at 2 PM at the West Anderson Church of God, with Rev. Terry Collins and Rev. John Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Sunday from 5 PM until 7 PM.
