JAMES DONALD BROWN, SR. James Donald Brown, Sr., age 75, of Starr, passed away at AnMed Health Medical Center on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late James Tildon Brown and the late Mae Gambrell Brown. For 56 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Gale Tiller Brown of the residence. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Boys High School, a member of the Class of 1956. He retired as a supervisor in management of Owens Corning after 39 years of service. He was truly an outdoorsman and loved to go hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church of Starr where he taught the adult men's Sunday School Class. Donald was an ordained Deacon in the Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, James Donald "Donnie" Brown, Jr. and his wife, Carole, of Starr; 2 brothers, David Marshall Brown and his wife Brenda, of Iva; Johnny W. Brown and wife, Terri of Anderson; 3 sisters, Shirley Hanks of Anderson, Margaret Lewis and husband, Gary, of Starr, Judy Byrum Wentzky and her husband, Rick, of Anderson; a brother-in-law raised in the home, Tommy Vaughn, of Georgia; 2 grandchildren, Chase Brown and his wife Brooke, Tanner Brown and his fianc, Andrea Hayes; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ella Brown and Nolin Hayes. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet Brown. The Funeral Service to celebrate and honor the life of Donald Brown will be held Sunday, November 3, 2013, at 2 PM, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Pastor Roger Kendrick officiating. Entombment will be held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
