James David Campbell, Jr., age 76, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born May 23, 1946, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late James David Campbell, Sr. and Emily Wansley Campbell. Jim received his Bachelor of Education Degree from Erskine College and taught in Anderson School District Five. He retired from Piedmont Natural Gas and also served in the National Guard for 22 years. He loved watching his grandchildren's sporting events and activities, as well as spending time with his family. He was a member and deacon of Varennes Heights Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol Nixon Campbell; daughter, Amy Campbell Cox (Tod) of Anderson; sons, Jason L. Campbell (Shannon) and Jonathan D. Campbell (Amy) both of Anderson; sister, Kathy Avant of Anderson; and grandchildren, Brady, Bryson, and Caroline Cox, Ross and Joe Campbell, Abby and Jackson Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sonny Campbell. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. David Blizzard officiating. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 285, Anderson, SC 29622. The family will be at their respective homes.
