November 13, 1915 - January 26, 2006ANDERSON, SCMr. James Frank Chastain, Sr., age 90, husband of Ruby Strickland Chastain of 106 North Pointe Creek, Anderson, SC, peacefully slipped into the presence of the Lord he loved on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Sandy Cross, GA on November 13, 1915, Mr. Chastain was a son of the late Balus Stevenson Chastain and Ada Bray Chastain. He was a member of 'The Greatest Generation' having served in the United States Army 11th Airborne during World War II. He was the retired owner and operator of Chastain's Campers. His leaded glass masterpieces grace many homes in Anderson and the Upstate. He loved music and formerly served as choir director at Pope Drive Baptist Church for fourteen years and served as deacon for many years. He was currently a member of Concord Baptist Church and the Don Latham Sunday School class.He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty six years, Ruby Strickland Chastain of the home; children, J. Frank 'Sonny' Chastain and his wife, Anne; Dixie Culbreath and her husband, Chalmers. He was the beloved 'Papa' to three grandchildren, Kip Chastain, Jennifer Dwight and Julie Culbreath and four great-grandchildren, Hayley Chastain, Carter Dwight, Jenkins Dwight and Melissa Hartsell. A sister, Hannah Broshce, several nieces and nephews also survive him.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Don Cox, Rev. Jack Ellenburg and Rev. Charles Allen.
