James Frederick Clements, age 96, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Smokemont, NC, on December 4, 1920, he was the son of the late Walter Mack and Flora Parker Clements. James proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II as part of the Combat Engineers Group in France, Belgium, and Germany. He and his brothers owned and operated Clements Brothers Construction for many years. After retirement James worked for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office serving as a Security Guard at the courthouse. He was a Mason, a York Rite and a Shriner and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Juanita Lessie Rogers Clements; a daughter, Kathy Clements Hammond and her husband Richard, of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren, Kathy Jo, Doug, Mark, April, and Michael; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Jackie and Mackie Clements, Joe Clements, Joyce Thompson, and David Clements; five brothers; and one sister. The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Mr. Clements life will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Smith and Reverend Tom Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, prior to the service, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, 2503 Whitehall Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
