James D. Blackwell Iva, SC James Dewitt Blackwell, age 79, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 8, 2015. Born in Anderson, SC on April 4, 1936, he was a son of the late William Fletcher Blackwell and the late Doila Blackwell. James retired as a supervisor from the SC Highway Department after 32 years working in the painting division. He formerly attended McDuffie Street Church of God and he enjoyed collecting antiques and growing flowers. Survivors include his children, Dale Willis, Shirlon Crocker both of Anderson, SC, Tony Blackwell of Starr, SC, and Marty Blackwell of Iva, SC; 2 sisters; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Betty Davis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by children, Betty Sorrow and Cathy Gilliam and several brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Bishop Roger Haynie and Reverend Alan Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
