James Robert Durrance, age 82, of Greenville, SC, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Terra Bella Summit.

Born September 9, 1941, in Tampa, FL, he was the son of the late William Durrance and Bessie Rail Durrance. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dean Durrance and Claude Durrance.

James was a veteran of the United States Army and spent much of his professional career in sales. He took his love of dogs and became a dog trainer. He specifically enjoyed training service and guide dogs. He was also a breeder of the Bernese Mountain dog. He enjoyed woodworking, racquetball, and weightlifting and was a former professional body builder. James cherished the times he spent with his family and friends and was a member of NewSpring Church.

He is survived by his children, Gene Durrance (Amy) of Central, SC, Debbie Looper (Wayne) of Easley, SC, Robbie Durrance, II of Tampa, FL, and Julie Deriso of Tampa, FL; sister, Diane Barnes of Tampa, FL; and 8 grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later time.
