James Howard Estes, age 90, of Honea Path, SC, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born October 12, 1935, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Fred Wade Estes and Sarah Mildred Patterson Estes. He was married to Linda Faye Adams Estes until her death in 2023. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Flora Ann Patterson.
James was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was an electrician with Davis Electrical for 36 years before retiring. A man who loved to piddle, he enjoyed building bird houses and helping build his own homestead that he loved so much. He enjoyed camping with his family and taking trips to the mountains and Florida beaches. James was a man devoted to his family and loved his wife more than anything.
He is survived by his children, Sandy Hayes (Jack) of Belton, SC, Bradley Estes (Elosia) of Anderson, SC, and Rusty Estes (Michelle) of Honea Path, SC; grandchildren, Kristin Youngblood (Daniel), Amanda Parnell (Trent), Elizabeth Martin (David), Emily Thayer (Jordan), and Austin Estes; and 9 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Dr. Josh Phillips officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Hwy, Anderson, SC 29621.
The family will be at their respective homes.
