James "Jim" Edward Finley, Sr., age 84, of 111 Fox Trl, Anderson, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on June 4, 1930, in Pickens County, SC, he was the son of the late Walter O. and Myrtle Clark Finley. For 58 years, he was the beloved husband of Geraldine "Gerrie" Gilstrap Finley of the residence.
Mr. Finley served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Westinghouse in Pendleton after a lengthy career as a maintenance mechanic. Jim was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Gerrie, he is survived by a son, James "Jimmy" E. Finley, Jr. of Anderson; a brother, Arnold Finley of Belton; and two sisters, Ruth Gillard of Anderson, and Janice Bray of Hendersonville, NC; two grandchildren, Ashley Branyon and Amber Finley; and two great grand-children, McKenzie Finley and Ryelan Branyon. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Dana W. Finley, and three brothers and three sisters.
The funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Finley will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Rev. David Cox officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends following the service at Forest Lawn.
