James Alfred "Al" Gainey, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his residence. Born in Darlington County, SC, he was the son of Bobbie Nell Marler, of Gray Court, SC and the late James M. Gainey. He attended Laurens High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Gina Merk Gainey; two daughters, Heather Gainey Crowe of Anderson and her significant other, Matt Rainey, of Greenville, SC and Rebecca Gainey Marchbanks and her husband James, of Columbia, SC; a brother, Terry Gainey, of Gray Court, SC; a sister, Debbie Griffin, of Gray Court, SC; and two grandbuddies, Jameson Crowe and Lawton Crowe. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverends Mark Duncan and Mark Dickson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
