Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late Michael T. and Margaret E. Galvin. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean E. Galvin, his son Michael D. Galvin, and his grandson, Christian G. Galvin.He served in the U.S. Navy as Chief Hospital Corpsman. He was aboard the USS Roosevelt, USS Canberra, and the USS Vermillion. He also served with the United States Marine Corps Third Battalion, Second Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C, and at the Navel Hospital at Camp Lejeune. He worked at and was published for his medical research at the Nuclear Submarine base at Groton, Connecticut.He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as LSU football, traveling, participating in Canberra reunions, reading, and celebrating his Irish heritage.Jimmy is survived by his children, Katie G. Montjoy, Patrick B. Galvin, and Tracy T. Galvin, their spouses, Paul D. Montjoy, and Thelma Galvin, grandchildren, Patrick J. Galvin, and P. Douglas Montjoy, his wife Carene Montjoy, and their daughter, Anna Mackenzie Montjoy. He is also survived by two sisters, Catherine McQuillen of Manchester, NH, and Patricia Ann Galvin of Florida, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.He and his wife of 57 years, a former Navy nurse will be interred with full military honors at Beaufort National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may by made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W.
