James Alexander Goodwin, Sr. Pendleton, SC James "Jim" Alexander Goodwin, Sr., age 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Bennettsville, SC, on December 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Frank G. Goodwin, Sr. and the late Nora Bundy Goodwin. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. James retired from West Point Stevens. He enjoyed wood crafting, being with his grandchildren, traveling, and working at the church. He was an avid Clemson football fan. He was currently attending Pope Drive Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Frances Nell Goodwin; three sons, James Alexander Goodwin, Jr. and his wife Brenda, of Anderson, David B. Goodwin, and his wife Rebecca, of Latta, SC, Richard D. Goodwin, of Lancaster, SC; two daughters, Mary Beth Chavis and her husband Bruce, of Chavistown, SC, and Amy R. Poole, and her husband Barry, of Cheraw, SC; two sisters, Willie Edith Boan and Mildred Irene Gray, both of Bennettsville, SC; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nora Alice McDuffie; four sisters, Martha, Anna Mae, Hazel and Margaret; two brothers, Frank G. Goodwin, Jr. and John Jennings Goodwin. The Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Noon at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Mack Tester and Joel Keown. Pallbearers serving will be his grandsons, James Alexander Goodwin III, Jeffrey Goodwin, Dougie Goodwin, Bruce Chavis, Jr., Jonathon Pruitt, and Josh Pruitt. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
