JAMES "COTTON" GREENWAY

James Lanier Greenway, age 86, of Anderson, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Grady Elias Greenway and the late Nina Mae Richardson Greenway. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was an insurance salesman with Nationwide Insurance for over 20 years. He was a member of Pine Lake Country Club where he enjoyed his time in the Dirty Old Men's Golf Group. James was past president of the Optimist Club. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his two sons, J. Mark Greenway and his wife, Inez of Anderson and Rick Greenway and his wife Donna of Anderson; four grandchildren, Richard, Patrick and Matthew Greenway and Ansley Burke and her husband Jason and thier son, James Sullivan Burke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Picklesimer Greenway and a brother, Corbett Greenway.
The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 12:30 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Robert N. Carlisle officiating. The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service. Honorary Escorts will be Rick Ivester, Terry Ivester, Al Ivester, Stan Hunnicut, Jimmy Bowen and Dick Willis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Center, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.
