*** DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER...SERVICE CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT ** James Gilphard Howard, Jr., 74, of Anderson, SC passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born February 21, 1943, in Maxwell County, AL, James was the son of the late James G. Howard, Sr. and the late Kathleen Boyd Howard. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a district manager for Delta Life Insurance Company. He enjoyed traveling with his family, had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party. He is survived by his wife, Anita Darlene Cook Howard of the home; five children; 13 siblings and 8 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12-12:30 pm Monday, January 22, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:00 pm in the committal shelter at MJ "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating.
