James Oliver Hughes, 82 of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House. Born April 29, 1936 in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Paul Hughes and Maude Maroney Hughes. Mr. Hughes retired with 29 years of service from B.A.S.F. He is survived by his children, Becky Freeman (Blake), Bruce Hughes (Kay) and Brad Hughes (Lynn); five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and Linda Wicker and Peggy Axe. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Faye Maroney Hughes and two brothers and a sister. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, July 19, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Rev. Dr. David Blizzard officiating. Burial will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Becky Freeman at 142 Landau Lane, Anderson, SC.
