James "Jim" Benjamin Alexander, 77, of Townville, SC passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017. He was born in Buncombe County, NC and was the son of the late Frank and Vema Adams. He was a 1958 graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School where he was active in sports, especially basketball. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in August 1960 and was honorably discharged in June 1964. He then attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute and completed the North Carolina State Board of Education's requirements for graduation from the welding trade curriculum. In 1965 he moved to South Carolina and was employed by LTV in Greenville. He was employed with Jennings Dill of Greenville and then was maintenance superintendent at Donaldson Center (SC Tac) in Greenville where he retired in 2010. Jim was a very special man who loved his family and Clemson football. He was a wonderful Christian man, who put God first in his life and attended Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville, SC. He was very fond of all animals, especially his dog, Gypsie and his two mini horses, Spanky and Peppie. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda Cooke Alexander; son, James Daryl Alexander (Mary) of Anderson; daughter, Jill Miles of Fountain In n, SC; two grandchildren, Alexander Joseph Miles and Brittany Michelle Miles and one great-granddaughter, Harlee Denise Miles. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Frank Eugene Alexander. The memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev David Blizzard and Rev Randy McAlister officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from 1:30 pm- 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or charity of choice.
