James Thornwell 'J.T.' Bryant, age 84, of 1100 Bryant Road, and widower of Grace Parnell Bryant, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at National Health Care Center. Born in Anderson County on November 14, 1923, he was a son of the late Hugh Ashley Bryant and Naomi Mitchell Bryant. Mr. Bryant retired from Southland Life Insurance Company and he was a lifelong cattle farmer. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church where he was a member of the Senior Men's Bible Class and former Deacon. Mr. Bryant was also a charter member of the Ebenezer Fire Department.Survivors include his children: Doug Bryant and wife Sandy of Anderson, Brenda Barton of Anderson, Danny Bryant and wife Debbie of Alamagordo, NM, and the Reverend Hulon Bryant and wife Lynn of Belton; ten grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; a sister, Margie Bryant Baker of Anderson; a sister-in-law, Ovaline Bryant of Anderson; and a special friend, Elaine Wolff of Anderson.In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his stepmother, Beatrice Pruitt Bryant; a daughter, Betsy Naomi Bryant; a son-in-law, Charles Barton; a sister, Susie B. Campbell; and a brother, Leonard H. Bryant. The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Long Branch Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Wayne Watson and the Reverend Hulon Bryant.
