James A. Kandel Anderson, SC James A. Kandel, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at National Healthcare in Anderson. Born in Canton, OH, on July 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Harold James Kandel and Kathryn Fulmer Kandel. He received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Chemistry from Akron University. He worked for A. Schulman, Inc. in Akron, OH as the Director of Environmental Affairs. He was a mason, and a boy scout leader. James and his family moved to Anderson, SC in 2006. He is survived by his son, Jeff Kandel and his son, Davis of Anderson, SC; his daughter, Debbie Kandel, of Akron, OH; brothers, Gary Kandel and his wife, Marilyn, of Columbus, OH and Jack Kandel and his wife Denise, of North Canton, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lipinski Kandel. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Jack Couch officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Caris Hospice, 129 Straight Drive, Anderson, SC 29625.
