James Walter Kelly, Jr., age 90, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at his residence. Born in Pelzer, SC, he was the son of the late James W. Kelly and the late Ruth Margaret Norris Kelly. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a POW during WWII. He earned his BS in architecture from Clemson University and worked as an architect from 1950-1989. He was a member of NCARB, American Institute of Architects, and he was active with Boys and Girls Scouts of America. James was a member of and an Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Delle Daniel Kelly; a son, James W. Kelly, III and his wife Jean, of Asheburn, VA; daughters, Suzanne Chapman and her husband David, of Anderson, SC, Merry Rodgers, of Columbia, SC, Jeanne' Baylor and her husband Trevor, of Upland, CA and Frances Fleck and her husband William, of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Harold Kelly and his wife Gloria, of Greenville, SC; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William Wayne Rodgers; and nine brothers and sisters. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends, prior to the service on Monday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations payable to a charity of your choice.
