He retired from Rockwell International with 33 years of service. He was a past member of the American Legion, the Elks Club and Moose Lodge. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Kionano Sunday School class. Jim enjoyed life with his family and friends and was an avid golfer and card player.He is survived by his wife of forty years, Sharon Brandon Lanning of the home; children, Beverly Kopac and her husband, Martin of Raleigh, NC; Scott Lanning and his companion, Holly Grier of Asheville, NC and Angela Wood and her husband, Allen of Waynesville, NC; sister, Shirley Hutchins of Sun City, FL; four grandchildren, Kyle, Sammy, Cody and Dawson.He was predeceased by brothers, Larry and Charles Lanning.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:30 am at Trinity United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Paul Frey.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.Flowers are optional.
