James Earl Lovorn, age 75, of Anderson, SC, devoted husband to Kathleen Derrig Lovorn for 55 years, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022. Born March 25, 1947, in Shaw, MS, he was the son of the late Joe Lovorn and Jewel Palmer Lovorn. James was retired from Cromer Food Services but continued to work part-time. Prior to his move to Anderson, he worked for Cook Motor Lines in Akron, OH. He had a distinct personality and was the definition of a hardworking man. James loved and adored his wife Kathy from the day they met until the day he went to Heaven. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them and his number one priority was caring for her. He was proud of his grandchildren and supported them in all aspects of their lives. He was our superhero. James' hobby was vintage muscle cars, attending car shows and working on them in his garage. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves with Kathy. He was the fixer of anything and everything for everyone, and he will be remembered by his family as the smartest man they ever knew. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Derrig Lovorn; children, James Earl Lovorn, Jr. (Angie) of Anderson, Jeffrey Scott Lovorn (Christy) of Pendleton, and Julie Marie Reynolds of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Hannah Mae Lovorn of Spartanburg, Riley Morgan Young (Carson) of Anderson, James Earl Lovorn, III of Anderson, Dustin Kyle Collins of Anderson, Garrett Wade Lovorn of Harrogate, TN, Kayla Reynolds Thomason (Bryce) of Anderson, Ashley Brooke Reynolds (Kenny) of Midland, TX, and Emily Reynolds Cochran of Spartanburg; and one great-grandchild, Stella Grace Reynolds of Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Lovorn; and sisters, Joanne Turner and Peggy Kinsley. The family will receive friends Friday, May 27, 2022, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel.
