He was a self-employed carpenter and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a United States Air Force Vietnam War Veteran.Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Martin of the home; mother, Frances Ashworth Martin Smith and step-father Jim Smith of Anderson, SC; sons, James Martin, III of Anderson, SC, Jessie Keith Martin of the home; daughters, Angie Martin Smith and Lisa Martin McAdams, both of Anderson, SC; stepsons, Frankie Medlin of Salem, SC, Bryan Shedd of Anderson, SC; step-daughter, Sheree Ayers of Walhalla, SC; brothers, Terry Martin and Tony Martin, both of Anderson, SC; sisters, Linda Shelton of Florida and Janice Gentry of Anderson, SC and nine grandchildren.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Smith and a sister, Shelby Wensky.A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2005 at 10:00 am at Old Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, SC.The family will be at the residence and at the home of his daughter, Angie M.
