James "Marty" Martin Young, age 61, of Iva, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 23, 2022. He was a graduate of Crescent High School. Marty was a supervisor at Singer/Ryobi in Anderson, SC, where he worked for 13 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors where he took many fishing trips with his fishing buddies to Santee Cooper Lakes. Marty was an expert fisherman and competed in many fishing tournaments. He was the owner and operator of Sportsman's One Stop in Iva with his wife, Ligia, for 25 years. Marty loved his children and grandchildren and shared stories of each to his friends and customers. Surviving is his devoted wife of 37 years, Ligia of Iva; mother, Barbara Jean Young of Starr; sister, Marla Cobb of Anderson (Andy); sons, Jamey Young of Iva (Jessica), and Jesse Young of Iva; daughter, Jennifer Armstrong of Easley (Jimmy); grandchildren, Natalie, Jace, and Caroline Young, and Jea Armstrong; niece and numerous cousins; and his fishing buddies. He is predeceased by his father, James "Jimmy" Ray Young. The family will receive friends Monday, September 26, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gray officiating. Burial will follow Iva City Cemetery.
