He was the son of the late Dr. James Clarence Milford and Edith Ashmore Milford. Mr. Milford was born and raised in the Long Branch Community. He attended Anderson College and Furman University before going into the Air Force.He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve and served in World War II as a flight instructor at various bases in Texas. He served in the China-Burma-India Theater flying C-47's over the Himalayas, known as 'The Hump'. He was retired as postmaster of the Townville Post Office and was a member and former deacon of Central Presbyterian Church. Mr. Milford was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.He is survived by his wife, Jean Kelley Milford, of the home; a son, James Michael Milford of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters, Carol Oxford of Oswego, New York and Kathy Hall of Anderson, SC. Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 11:00 am at Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 413, Anderson, SC with Dr. David J. Bailey officiating. Visitation will follow the Graveside Service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visitingwww.mcdougaldfuneralhome.comThe McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
