James Melvin Moorhead, age 90, of Anderson, SC passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. Born October 1, 1926 in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Sallie Copeland Moorhead and Robert Era Moorhead Sr. James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, James Gregory "Greg" Moorhead; granddaughter, Ashley Moorhead Nelson and her husband, Matthew and their children, Caleigh, Katelyn, Jacob, and Connor Nelson; sister, Margaret M. Raines and her husband Howard and brother, Charles W. Moorhead. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Aileen Gaines Moorhead; sister, Ernestine M. Jones and brothers, Robert Era Moorhead, Jr, Harold, Lewis and David Moorhead. The funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am Saturday August 12, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Bob Marcaurelle officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday at The McDougald Funeral Home.
