He retired in1982 from Budweiser Brewery with 12 years of service. He was a United States Army World War II veteran serving from 1942 to 1945 in the North Pacific and Aleutian Islands. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Anderson, SC. Survivors include his wife, Frances Davis Morton of the home; daughter, Sandra Morton Chasteen of Simpsonville, SC, son, Dana L. Morton of Anderson, SC; brother, David O. Morton of Anderson, SC; sisters Hilda M. Bramlett of Westminister, Doris M. Bryant. Dorothy M. Earle, Betty M. Powell and Evelyn M. Brown, all of Anderson, SC and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis F. Morton and a sister, Virginia M. Evans.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home by the Reverend Tom Turner. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 19, 2005 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.The family will be at the residence. Flowers are optional.
