JAMES G. NIX April 14, 1923 - October 14, 2012 ANDERSON, SC James Grady Nix, age 89, of Grady Hall Road, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Fellowship Health and Rehab. Born in Pickens, SC, he was the son of the late Henry Nix and the late Lee Nix. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Wamsutta Mill after many years of service. James was an outdoorsman who enjoyed training dogs and was an avid horseman. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He was formerly a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. He is survived by his sons, James Gary Nix (Thelma) of Hayburn, ID and Wayne Nix (Kay); three grandchildren, Michael Nix, Michelle Wilson and Tonya Nix; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Lavern Parker Nix; a son, Roger Nix; a brother, Guy Nix; and three sisters, Bertha Robinson, Geneva Masters and Jessie Durham. The Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Kinard officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 4520 Dobbins Bridge Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
