Owens, age 81, husband of the late Betty Mannel Owens, died Tuesday, November 07, 2006 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC.Born in Pelzer, SC on July 14, 1925, Mr. Owens was a son of the late James Thomas Owens and Lillie Mae Patterson Broome. He was a Merchant Seaman during World War II and was a member of the World War II Liberty Ship Association. He retired from Ryan's Steakhouse as manager after fifteen years of service.Survivors include his son, James Rodger Owens and his wife, Pat of Clemson, SC; daughters, Pamela Bibb and her husband, Kenneth of Anderson, SC and Carolyn Owens Perlsweig and her husband, Mark of New Jersey; brothers, Paul Broome, Donald Broome and Randall Broome, all of Anderson, SC; a sister, Jewell Edwards of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren, Michael Bibb, James Bibb, James B. Owens, Ruth Owens, Daniel Perlsweig and one great-grandson, Tyler Bibb.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Broome and a sister, Joyce Sanders.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Frank Dooley.
