James Ralph Campbell, age 81, passed away at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC on December 25, 1934, he was the son of the late James Oliver and Eunice Hart Campbell. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was the Parts Department Manager at Sullivan Motor Company for many years and also worked at Carolina First, currently TD Bank, as a courier for several years. He was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. Playing golf was one of his favorite hobbies. He thoroughly enjoyed good southern cooking (especially desserts with a particular affinity for coconut cake), watching sporting events, and fussing at the squirrels in his back yard. He was a passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves and all things Clemson. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. We take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with Barbara, his beloved bride of over 53 years. He is survived by a son, Randy (Theresa) Campbell, of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Pam (Buck) Hill, of Aberdeen, SD; a sister, Janell Mathews and her husband Johnny; two grandchildren, B.J. (Nathan) Coyle, and Parker (Mark) Phillips; great-grandchildren, Chord, Emory, Lena, Isabell, Luke, and John Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. Campbell; and a brother, Raymond Campbell. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Owen and Pastor Richard Lister officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Hill Baptist Church, 909 Plantation Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
