James Richard Rogers, Jr., age 85, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at his home. Born in Anderson, SC on September 8, 1931, he was the son of the late James R. Rogers, Sr., and the late Myrtice McCurley Rogers. He was a graduate of Anderson Boys High. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he retired with the rank of BTC-E9 after 20 years of service. He retired from Michelin North America in Sandy Springs after more than 20 years with them. He was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Stanley Rogers; a daughter, Janice Lynn Richey and her husband Ronnie, of Honea Path; and a son, James Richard "Ricky" Rogers, III and his wife Wanda, of Anderson, SC; and a brother, Harold Rogers, of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Dwayne "Buddy" Rogers; two sisters, Margie Campbell, and Frances Rogers; and a brother, William Matthew Rogers. The Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
