James Cleo Roper, Jr. age 74, of Pendleton, SC, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House. Born November 13, 1947 in Easley, he was a son of the late James Cleo Roper, Sr. and Nora Eleanor Owens Roper. James received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina and was an avid Gamecocks fan. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pendleton. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gail Parker Roper; son, James Cleo Roper, III (Victoria) of Columbia, SC; daughters, Mollie Malinda Roper of Altadena, CA, and Jennifer Clark Johnson of Grottoes, VA; stepsons, Richard C. Gillespie (Kellie) of Pendleton, SC, and Gregory P. Gillespie (Carol) of Sandy Springs; brothers, John F. Roper (Jo) of Knoxville TN, and Charles W. Roper of Easley, SC; sister, Sarah Jane Owens (Benny) of Easley, SC; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family will receive friends Friday, January 7, 2022, from 11:00 am to noon at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson.
