James Harold "Hal" Stuckey, Sr., age 78, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at the Rainey Hospice House with his loving wife, Leila Barr, by his side. Born in Stuckey, SC, on October 1, 1936, he was the son of the late Wheeler Odell Stuckey and the late Grace Reese Stuckey.
Mr. Stuckey was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. He was Director International Liaison with the Cryovac Division of W.R. Grace Company, which was later purchased by Sealed Air. He also served as a global safety officer with that same company. Mr. Stuckey retired after 37 years of employment. Following retirement he worked as a Sales Associate for Home Depot in Anderson. For fifty years he served in numerous volunteer positions with the Boy Scouts of America, and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Anderson. He was also a member and Past President of the Blue Ridge Sertoma Club in Greenville. In his spare time, he enjoyed vegetable gardening, traveling, spending time with family, and helping other people. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Leila Barr Sullivan Stuckey of the residence; a daughter, Mary Barr Stuckey Isaacs and her husband, Arnold, of Cornelius, NC; a son, James H. "Bo" Stuckey, Jr., and his wife, Debbie, of Greenville; four grandchildren, James Harold Stuckey, III, Todd Isaacs (Ellen), David Isaacs (Angie), Christy I. Alston (Van); four great-grandchildren; a sister Nancy Stuckey Eady of Georgetown, SC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Hal was preceded in death by three brothers, W. O., Marion, and Reese Stuckey, and a sister, Virginia S. Haselden.
The Memorial Service will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 1:30 PM, with Rev. Dan Batson officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends in the parlor of the church immediately following the service.
