James Hancock Taylor, 72, of Anderson, SC passed away October 18, 2018 at the Hospice House of the Upstate. Born December 7, 1945, in Lilesville, NC, he was the son of the late Robert A. Taylor, Sr. and Ruth M. Taylor.
James, a native of Fountain Inn, SC, graduated from Hillcrest High School, attended North Greenville University and graduate from Greenville Technical College. He was a veteran of the US Army Medic Reserves and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. After retirement from the SC State Park System, James devoted his time to his family, his church, his community and to his friends. He loved life and this was exemplified by his positive attitude. His passion was attending Clemson games and supporting his Tigers. In the last 8 years, he was a mentor for cancer patients and a strong supporter of lung cancer survivors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lucy M. Taylor; two sons, Bryan Taylor (Wendy) of Anderson, SC, Marc Taylor (April) of Easley, SC; 3 grandchildren, Lindsay Taylor, Luke Taylor, and Eva Taylor; one sibling, Robert A. Taylor, Jr. (Glenda).
Funeral services will be held on Monday October 22, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Anderson, SC at 1:00pm with Reverend Mary Teasley officiating. Burial will follow at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson, SC. The family will greet friends from 6-8pm on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at McDougald Funeral Home.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Bon Secours Cancer Center for their dedication to James for the past 8 years.
