JAMES ROBERT THOMAS, SR. July 23, 1932 - September 7, 2012 James Robert Thomas, Sr., age 80, of Anderson, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Lexington, GA he was the son of the late Minnie E. Fitzgerald Brock. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert was the owner and proprietor of several small businesses, serving his community until establishing Robert Thomas Food Mart which he ran for 36 years until his retirement in 2001. He was of the Baptist faith. Being a selfless family man, he was married to Jackie Branham Thomas for 60 years. He was the wonderful father of James Robert Thomas, Jr., Caroline Thomas, Scot Thomas, Mark Thomas and the late Ronder Thomas Young. Those left to cherish his memories are his six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and his niece, Evelyn Kinard. In addition to his mother and daughter, he was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Thomas; and a brother, Bill Thomas. A private family memorial service will be held at Ramsey Creek Preserve, Westminster, SC. The family will be at the home and will receive friends on Monday, September 10, 2012 at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
