McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, South Carolina 29621864-224-4343 OBITUARY w/photo FLAG JAMES WITT August 18, 1924 - May 24, 2011ANDERSON, SCJames Lloyd Witt, age 86, of NHC HealthCare of Anderson and formerly of 816 Ferry Street, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Nashville, TN on August 18, 1924, Mr. Witt was a son of the late James Lloyd Witt and Ollie Mae Solomon Witt. He was a graduate of Palmetto High School and served in the United States Army. Mr. Witt had formerly worked at Anderson Mill and Wamsutta Mill. He was an avid rabbit hunter and was a country music fan. He was a loving and caring family man and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Survivors include his children: Danny Witt and his wife, Libby; Debra Elgin and her husband Bill all of Anderson, SC; David Witt and his wife, Tammy of Boco Raton, FL; Greg Witt and his wife, Debbie and Ken Witt, all of Anderson, SC; brother, Gordon Davis and his wife, Gladys of Anderson, SC; sisters, Ethel Witt of Belton, SC and Dot Purcell of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Craig, Jeff, Brandon and Bethany Witt; Kinsley Wentzky, Caressa Baker, Candace Schofield, Nicole Gibson and Kendra Vaughn and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Wilma Bannister Witt; son, Gary Witt and six brothers and sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Brent Lollis. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.The family will be at the home of Greg and Debbie Witt, 103 Ashby Court, Anderson, SC and will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.The family would like to thank the staff of station #1 at NHC HealthCare for the love and care they gave during the last several years.Flowers are optional.
