Woodson
August 9, 1928 – October 6, 2023
James Junior Woodson, 95, of Anderson, died peacefully at his home on Friday, October 6, 2023. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
James was born August 9, 1928 in Anderson County. He was a son of the late William Lloyd Woodson and the late Bessie Haynie Woodson. He was married to Mary Olga Brown Woodson until her death in 2010.
He was a graduate of Forrest College receiving a diploma in business. He served in the Army as a Military Policeman during the World War II era while stationed in Japan. After his return to the states, he spent 17 years in the auto business with Harold White Auto Sales. Later, he was the owner and operator of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Belton. James was a faithful member of Sandy Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. A true Christian that loved his Savior first and foremost, but family and friends were his life. Nothing could bring a smile quicker to his face than seeing one of his great-grands.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jimmy Woodson and his wife Jan; grandson, Brian Woodson and his wife Kendra and Russell Woodson and his wife Julie; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Kaylee, and McKenzie Woodson.
In addition to his wife Olga and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Jerry Dean Woodson and William Allen Woodson; brothers, Albert, John W., Paul and Clarence Woodson; and sister, Louise Cole.
A graveside service will be held at New Silver Brook Cemetery on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:00 am officiated by Reverend Gerald Murphy and Reverend Tommy Wooten. The family will greet friends following the service.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries, 219 W. Whitner St., Anderson, SC 29624 or the Salvation Army, 112 Tolly St., Anderson, SC 29624.
The family will be at the home of his son, Jimmy Woodson.
