Jane Hurd Carpenter, age 81, of Piedmont, SC, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, at The Gables on Pelham. Born May 21, 1940, in Cramerton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Bryan Everett Hurd and Pauline Robertson Hurd. She was married to James Givens Carpenter, IV until his death in September 2016. Jane attended Furman University and worked at the Ford Motor Credit Company for 27 years before her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Piedmont where she formerly served as the WMU Director. She is survived by her sons, James G. Carpenter, V (Erin) of Mooresville, NC, and Bryan T. Carpenter (Gretchen) of Pickens, SC, and their children, Beyla, Ozzie, and Pearla; daughters, Angela C. Ethridge (Daniel) of Greer, SC, and their children, Chase, Brooke, and Phoebe, and Amy C. Dodson (Billy) of Duncan, SC, and their children J.J. and Gabe. The family will receive friends Friday, November 19, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Piedmont. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Dr. Steve Hearne officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
