Jane Doerler, age 94, passed away quietly, March 11, 2021, in her home that she had exquisitely decorated in her signature style.
Born, October 10, 1926 in New York City to Karl and Kathleen Gullick, Jane attended Wheaton College and later at The Parsons School of Design in New York. It was there that she found her true passion for decorating and design. She grew up in Connecticut but it was her summers in Vermont on her grandparent's farm she most fondly remembered.
Jane was accomplished in the art of Ikebana flower arranging. She was a member of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of America and was often called upon to give presentations and demonstrations at the Blue Ridge Chapter gatherings in Hendersonville, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Alfred Doerler and her sister Faith Gulick of New Town, Connecticut, as well as her first husband, Arthur Garrett.
She is survived by friends and neighbors who enjoyed her company and hospitality over the years as well as her beloved feline companion Tom Boy. A scholarship for the study of veterinary medicine will be established in her name to perpetuate her love of animals.
Special thanks to Terri Skelton and the care givers of Home Instead.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Tuesday March 16, 2021, at 2:00 pm with Father John B. Hardaway officiating. Social distancing will be observed and masks are required.
