Obituary

Janice Mosher White, age 94, passed away peacefully on Jan. 6th, 2024, in hospice at Cottingham Home in Seneca, SC. She was born on August 29, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Oren and Lillian Waggener.

Jan married the late Gilbert Jay Mosher in 1952, and together they shared 54 years of love and partnership until his passing at the age of 77 in 2006. In 2011, she found love again with Thurman White, and they enjoyed several happy years together until his passing in 2017.

Jan was a dedicated mother to three children: Beverly (Al) Brauer, Wendy (Mike) Sammarco, and Bob (Christine) Mosher. She cherished her role as a grandmother to eight grandchildren: Michael Sammarco Jr., Stephanie (Paul) Maves, Jenna (Clay) Sovich, Kyle (Loren) Brauer, Brittany (Michael) Prince, Rachel (Joe) Pavone, Ryan (Daisy) Mosher, and Holley Mosher. Her legacy also extends to five great-grandchildren: Mason and Gianna Maves, Maura and Michael Pavone, and Poppy Mosher, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Keuka College in 1951, and later received a master's degree from the University of Buffalo in Education. Jan was passionate about teaching and dedicated her early career to the YWCA in Jamestown, NY. It was there that she met her late husband, Gilbert Mosher, who worked for the YMCA. They raised their family in Lockport, NY, where Jan remained active in her church and community. She lived there from 1960-2010. Prior to this, she lived in Worcester, MA from 1953-1960. She played a pivotal role where she taught and directed "Happy Times Daycare" in Lockport, NY, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many children. In 2010, she moved to Anderson, SC.

Her life was marked by her commitment to family, education, and community service. Jan will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the positive influence she had on those around her.

The family will be having a private celebration of life at a future date. Memorials to Cottingham Hospice House.
