Jacob Daniel "J.D." Hughes, age 86, of Sandy Springs, SC passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at NHC of Anderson. Born in Jefferson County, Alabama, he was a son of the late Newman Edward Hughes and the late Susie Inez Pugh Hughes Burkett. J.D. retired with 25 years of service from LaFrance Industries. He was of the Baptist faith and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his son, Danny R. Hughes and his wife, Cindy of Townville; daughters, Cynthia McGill and her husband, Ronald of Anderson and Susan Chapman also of Anderson; brothers, Ross Hughes and Tommy Hughes and his wife, Linda; sisters, Betty Davis and Brenda Frazier; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was also preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Myrtle Irene Hughes; brother, Ray Hughes and sister, Vera Webb. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 27, 2017 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev Bob Castro officiating.
