Geraldine Beasley Arnold, age 78, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2014, upon her death at Nancy Hart Nursing Home in Elberton, GA. She was surrounded by the love of her family at the time of her death. Born in Anderson on October 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James Beasley and the late Gertrude Smith Beasley. For 46 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Melvin C. Arnold, Jr., until his death in 1996. Mrs. Arnold was a member of Word Tabernacle where she was very active as long as health permitted. She loved her church and was devoted to her family. Fishing the Santee Cooper was her favorite pass time. Jean was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are two sons, Mike C. Arnold and his wife, Cathy, of Anderson, and William Randy Arnold and his wife, Patricia, of Anderson; 5 grandchildren, William "Rusty" Arnold, Jr., Jonathan R. Arnold, Jennifer Leigh Arnold, Mathew Clark Arnold, and Katherine E. Arnold; also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Melvin, Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her brothers, J.B., Houston, Bill, and Kenneth Beasley; and 4 sisters, Mexie Gentry, Virginia Hudgens, Jo Anne Rumsey, and Pat Heaton. The Funeral Service to celebrate and honor the life of Jean Arnold will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Word Tabernacle, with Pastor Gene Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
