JEAN BLACKWELL June 27, 1918 - May 22, 2012 GREENVILLE, SC Jean Chamblee Blackwell, age 93, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at her residence. Born in Starr, SC she was the daughter of the late Wilson Reeves Chamblee and the late Minnie Bond Chamblee. Jean graduated from Starr High School and attended University of South Carolina. She was a bookkeeper for many years and was also a caregiver. She married Dr. Gordon Blackwell, the past President of Furman University, in 2001 at the age of 86. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Westmoreland of Woodruff, SC; a brother, Dwain "Whit" Chamblee of Starr, SC; a sister, Betty C. Rogers of Fork, SC; and also survived by Dr. Blackwell's children, Cecilia Blackwell, June Blackwell, Blair Blackwell Cooper and her husband Pete, Amelia Blackwell Yarborough and her husband Danny; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gordon Blackwell; four brothers, Reeves, William, Bob, and Jess Chamblee; two sisters, Lizzie C. Thompson and Reba Geer; and Dr. Blackwell's two sons, Gordon and Randolph Blackwell. The Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Blackwell will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson with Reverend Tony Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Starr Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at her home, 119 Broughton Drive, Greenville, SC, on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
