Jeanette Dale McAlister Hurray, age 77, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born September 26, 1948, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Preston Archie McAlister and Jeanette Tucker McAlister. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Preston McAlister and Robert Kenneth McAlister; and sister-in-law, Ann McAlister.

Dale received her bachelor's degree from Clemson University and her master's degree from the University of Georgia and was in the top of both of her classes. She was a devoted public educator for 38 years retiring from Anderson School District 5 where she was awarded District Teacher of the Year in 1991. She spent the majority of her career teaching at Westside High School. She was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church where she taught the Esther Sunday School Class and served in the nursery and bereavement ministries. She enjoyed going to Topsail Island in North Carolina, shell hunting with her sister-in-law Nancy, and was an avid Clemson Tigers fan.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Robert "Bob" Henry Hurray; son, Dr. David Henry Hurray (Christine); daughter, Catherine Hurray Davis (Corey); grandchildren, Taylor Hurray, Jenna Schank, Josh Hurray, Ethan Hurray, and Gabriel Hurray; cousin, Shirley McAlister; sister-in-law, Nancy McAlister; and dear friend Lynn Bryant.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Danuser officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
