Jeanette Dye Reed, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC, on October 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Frank Dye and the late Robbie Campbell Dye. She was the co-owner of Reed Brothers Construction Company, and a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Jeanette is survived by her children, Johnny Reed and his wife Becky, of Anderson, SC, and Sherry Reed Newton and her husband, Ken, of Anderson, SC; two sisters, Joyce Compton, and Emilie McFall, both of Anderson; three grandchildren, Kevin Shaffer, Jamie Shaffer, and Denise Shaffer Maroney; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Moseley Reed; a daughter, Robbie Leigh Reed; and a son, George M. "Speedy" Reed, Jr. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Reed was held privately on Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Don Cox officiated. Mrs. Reed is interred at New Silver Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
