There will be a celebration of life for Jeffrey Scott Makison on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Teasley officiating. Jeff's earthly journey ended on July 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was the loving husband of Susie Makison for 38 years, but the love of his life for 47. Together they have a beautiful daughter, Mandy Griffin and her husband Jimmy. Jeff was known as Poppie to his grandchildren, Carson and Parker, who were his biggest blessings. He is also survived by three brothers, Edward Floyd Makison Jr. (Pat), Eric Alan Makison (Cathy), and Joel Wesley Makison; brothers and sisters in-law, John Neil Phillips (Jody) and Robert Michael Phillips (Donna); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Gladys Makison. Jeff was the owner and operator of Makison Plumbing Repair Inc. for many years and was loved by his faithful customers. He enjoyed many things in life, of those, spending time with his family was his main priority, teaching his grandchildren to remain humble and kind even through life's trials. He was selfless and loving, always thinking of others. He had a sense of humor that will be missed by all who knew him. Jeff was an avid golfer and enjoyed the greens as long as his health permitted. He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was very involved in the community. The family would like to thank family, friends, and the community for the prayers, love, and support throughout this journey.
