Born in Anderson County, SC on June 7, 1924, Mr. Merck was a son of the late Corbett Merck and Dollie Dickerson Merck. He was retired from C. M. S. Garage with over 40 years of service. He was a United States Army World War II veteran.Survivors include his daughter, Tammie Moore Fern and her husband, Robbie of Belton; brother, Charles Merck of Anderson; sisters, Lucille Swaney of Pendleton, Frances Parker, Louise Parker, June Lyles, all of Anderson and Bobbie Cothran of Central; nine grandchildren, Josh, Kayla, Bryan, Randy and Brandi Moore, Shannon King and her husband, Mac, Sheree Ricketts and her husband, Perry, Dusty Merck and Jamie Cantrell; eight great-grandchildren, Colby and Kyle Gray, Dillion and Brayden King, Logan Shaw, Landon and Joseph Ricketts and Carlee Cantrell. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jamey Merck and brothers, Swain and Mays Merck.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Phil Sears officiating.
