Jennie Mae Gaines Manning, age 90, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born on February 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late F. Lee Gaines and the late Sally Shirley Gaines. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Vesta Manning until his death in 1972. Mrs. Manning was a faithful member of Ruhamah United Methodist Church in Starr since 1943 for as long as her health would permit. She taught Sunday School at Ruhamah for thirty-five years and served as church treasurer for twenty-seven years. Jennie was also treasurer of Ruhamah United Methodist Church Endowment Trust for fourteen years. She is survived by seven nephews, Fred Dobbins, Jr. (Pat), of Chesnee, SC, Joe L. Gaines (Judy) of Charlotte, NC, Crawford Keese of South Union, SC, Richard Dobbins (Becky) of Townville, SC, Rhett Dobbins (Ann) of Townville, SC, Lee Keese (Laura) of South Union, SC, and John Gaines (Susan) of Montgomery, AL. Jennie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Vesta, Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by one brother, Ozelle Gaines, and four sisters, Vivian Merkel, Minnie Keese, Elizabeth Dobbins, and Eleanor Gaines. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jennie Manning will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Ruhamah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
