Obituary

Jerry Frank Manley, age 81, of Pendleton, SC, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born September 12, 1943, in Pendleton, SC, he was the son of the late Frank L. Manley and Dorothy C. Manley. He was also preceded in death by his son, Alan Manley and brothers, John E. Manley and Jacky R. Manley.

Jerry was a graduate of Pendleton High School. He retired after 37 years as a lineman with Duke Energy in Clemson. He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church and was a Mason and a Shriner. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, son, brother and friend. He was a man of untold kindness and compassion who greeted each day with a unique sense of humor. He was a man of his word. He was a mentor to countless young men growing up in Pendleton through being a coach, umpire and teammate. His courage and strength of character were admired by all. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and his Clemson Tigers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Morton Manley; daughters, Annette Parker (Paul) and Aneida Hunnicutt (Wayne); brother, Jimmy L. Manley; four grandchildren, Kim Dyar (Greg), Deann Leopard (Brent), Nathan Manley (Makenzie), and Bryan Glenn (McKenzie); eight great-grandchildren, Brayden and Ian Richey, Anna Grace Dyar, Parker and Spencer Leopard, Lily Rose and Creed Glenn, Porter Manley and one expected great-grandson, Jerry Wilder Manley; special nieces and nephews and his best friend, James Haney.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 3-5 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:00 am with Rev. Dr. David Blizzard and Rev. Tim Marcengill officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.

The family will be at the residence.
