Jerry Glenn Skelton, age 81, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center.
Born December 13, 1942, in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late Roy Frank Skelton and Aldie E. Lowie Skelton. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Edrew, A.T., Delano and Ariel and sisters, Etrulia, Clarene and Brenda.
Glenn was a veteran of the United States Army with 21 years of service. He spent two tours of duty in Vietnam, two tours in Korea and one tour in West Berlin, Germany. There was a book written about his unit 199 Light Infantry Brigade called Days of Valor. He received many medals while serving his country. He was very proud to serve his country and would talk to anyone who would listen to his stories of his time in service. He also was a truck driver for over 25 years, which allowed him to visit all but one of the fifty states. He was a member of the Homeland Park Church of God.
He leaves behind his wife, Norma Jean Davis Skelton; daughters, Anna Lisa Skelton, Diana M. Conner (Ed) and Paula Runion (David); six grandchildren, Julia Fielding (Cameron), Ali Martin, Kelly Paluska (Brian), Tyler Simpson (Sara), Chandler Simpson, and Samuel Martin; five great grandchildren, Wesley Fielding, Eadyn Fielding, Rachel Fielding, Abby Paluska and Claire Paluska; and one sister, Kathryn Feltman (Billy).
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Vernon Soles officiating. Burial with military honors will be at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
The family will be at the residence.
