Jerry Michael Tate, age 67, of Anderson, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2016, upon his death at his residence. Born in Anderson on November 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Joseph P. Tate and the late Jean Mabry Tate. For forty-five years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Doris Dean Tate of the home. Jerry was a graduate of McDuffie High School in Anderson, and attended Tri-County Tech. Mr. Tate retired from B.A.S.F. after thirty nine years employment as a shipping clerk. He was a faithful member of Freedom Center Assembly of God, where he really loved his church family. In addition to his wife, Doris, Mr. Tate is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. Rogers and her husband, Casey, of Anderson; two sisters, Pat Griffin and her husband, Charles, of Iva, and Mary Lou Finley and her husband, Terry, of Anderson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tate was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Tate. Jerry will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Jerry Tate will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 2 p.m., at Freedom Center Assembly of God, with Pastor Phillip Sears officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, from 6 p. m. until 8 p.m. Flowers are optional and contributions in memory of Mr. Tate may be made to Freedom Center Assembly of God, 3235 D.
